Round-The-World Leg 5

From: Defuniak Springs

To: Checkpoint 1

Leaving: Florida, USA

Entering: Alabama, USA

The scenery got very primitive very quick as I left Florida and entered Alabama. On top of that, the terrain got a bit bumpy along the way with a few misleading turns here and there. There was one occassion when I actually hit a complete dead end and had to retrace my steps in order to find another main road to follow. Currently, I'm close to leaving Alabama and going into Louisiana in the West.

Round-The-World Tour Leg 6

Simulator Version: Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition

Starting Point: Abbeville in Alabama

Finishing Point: Gragg-Wade in Alabama

This trip is a little more interesting and ironic at the same time. Seeing as I didn't keep any record as to where exactly I was last time in Alabama, I had to randomly pick an airport from the start and start from there. The ride was quite interesting as the roads were a lot smoother and the bridges were fun to drive on. Not only that, the trees provided a very good level of realism [although they were eating away some of my frames because I set them at very dense]. This is where the irony comes in. As I stopped at Gragg-Wade, I looked into the map to see where I was. Much to my surprise [and after spending 3 hours driving the country side], I found out that I began my trip from the far east side of the state and ended up almost exactly where I left off some time ago. Anyways, here are some shot taken during the trip. They're not very good in quality because I have a 20" widescreen monitor and squeezing them to 600 pixels wide took a toll on them [not to mention the image compression].

Round The World Tour - Leg 7

From: Gragg-Wade
To: Rose Field
Leaving: Alabama
Entering: Mississippi

Here is a funny story. I was driving out of Gragg-Wade airport along the roads of FSX minding my own business while taking photos of moving traffic, wild rides, and harassing the trucks. Upon reaching Rose Field, I took a few shots of the map so that I can record how far I traveled. Now, upon inspection of the screen shots, I found almost all of them blacked out. The only ones that didn't get blacked out are the shots of the map when I was in the map menu [go figure]. Seriously, I nearly threw my joystick at the monitor over this because I have spent two hours taking excellent shots; only to be blacked out in the end. I don't know how or why this was possible, but I'm gonna get to the bottom of them. Anyways, here are the shots that didn't get blacked out. At least I finally made it to Mississippi.
