The race has been very interesting so far, even though attendance was rather small. Because of the number of screenshots I took before and during the race, I have concentrated them onto a single album for all of you to see. Before there was even practice, I decided to take a nice flight over the track to see how it looked from high above. I was rather impressed by the track when I had a bird's eye view of the place. After a while, Dirk and his friend Speedbird came in and we began to perform a pre-race practice lap just for the thrill of it. At this point, Dirk introduced me to a neat [and very old] feature of FS in which the dynamic FEEL of the vehicle becomes more effective by simply increasing the simulation rate by 2x. I was a little apprehensive about using that feature as I had bad feelings about how it could effect the online connection. The feeling was laid to rest as I tried it out. I didn't suffer a single drop in frame rate, neither did I experience any connection problems throughout the race. In fact, it was fun when I tried it out.

Once the practice lap was done, it was finally time to start the race. This was the starting line up. In the 1st starting position was Speedbird followed by me in the 2nd with Dirk Stuck on the 3rd.

Just a moment after the race offically began, a fellow member from SimViation dropped by; but was a little confused and too late to join the race. So Dirk had to stay behind and help him sort things out. With Dirk technically out of the race, this left me with Speedy who was gaining speed ahead of me. The next three shots below pretty much summed up how Speedy easily left me behind. It seems that I have a tough competitor in the grounded world. I'll get him next time. Just watch, Speedy will be seeing my F1's tail side in the next race. ;-)
