Step up to the Challenge!

***As of 26 July 2007***

Another fine addition to the grounded world of Flight Simulator has just arrived, thanks to MDivey, Paul Gausden, and Bruce Fitzgerald. This British tank has a fine exterior look regardless of the fact that it lacks any panel or virtual cockpit. It features two texture variations that can suit either desert or jungle terrain and has three different visual models with their own unique appearence. All in all, there are four combinations in total.

Before I get into the visual details, I like to point out that the dynamics are very stable and smooth. Although, you'll have to keep starting up the engine as the tank seems to shut down every time it sits idle for too long. It may have something to do with the fact that I am running this addon in FS2004 when it originally made for FSX. According to the instructions provided, if I wanted the FSX model to work right in FS2004, all I had to do was delete the "camera definitions" inside the aircraft.cfg file of the addon.

Next comes the animations. Basically, it the main turret moves left and right with aileron movement while the barrel moves up and down with elevator movement; in addition to this, the wheels on the treads are animated as well.

And finally, the textures. I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with how they stand out from the model. Just to show you a sample of the textures, the shots in this article will speak for themselves.

Again, this model doesn't have a DVC or 2D panel; but in my opinion, I feel more comfortable driving this tank using spot view so that you this thing rolling over the rough terrain like a monster.

This addon is available at SimViation.com under the "FSX Misc" section.

Cheers,
